Sébastien David

Sébastien David makes his wines in the heart of the Loire Valley, France. His approach to winemaking embraces both centuries-old winemaking traditions and contemporary, innovative methods. Spanning approximately 15 hectares, all under the ownership of his family, Sébastien strategically distributes his vineyards across Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil to mitigate the threat of localised frost.

Embracing an eco-friendly approach, he refrains from chemical usage and opts for a sulphur-free winemaking process, resulting in wines that offer a fantastic expression of the grapes used. Moreover, what sets Sébastien apart is his unwavering attention to detail, and his want for perfection. He meticulously monitors the grape-growing process, ensuring each fruit reaches optimal ripeness. His precise fermentation techniques capture the essence of the terroir, producing wines that are a true reflection of the vineyard's character.

The tradition of organic farming runs deep in his family, with Sébastien incorporating biodynamic preparations into his practices. Additionally, he explores diverse winemaking vessels, including amphorae, clay eggs, and traditional foudres, adding a touch of innovation to his craft and bringing a new depth of expression to the wines.

He's also the man who made "adult coca-cola", the Hurluberlu. A light red wine, its bottle resembles a bottle of coke, plus it has a slight fizz on the tongue, cranberry and cherry notes, and a cult following! It can be enjoyed chilled or at room temperature, and you can find it on our shelves!
