LES CÔTS HAUTS 2018
Bright & Crunchy Malbec.
Les Côts Hauts is made using fruit from young Malbec vines that are around 17 years old. The fruit is bright and crunchy, with fresh black fruits and a medium body. But, it's not what you would typically expect from a Malbec. It has a lean texture and is acid-driven, offering a minerality that isn't often captured from the grape, but is a trademark style of the producer, Mikaël Bouges, who transmits the minerality of the soil of his vineyards in all of his wines.
Mikaël's vineyard is made up of 8 hectares of land split into various parcels dotted around Faverolles-sur- Cher in Touraine, and has been certified organic as far back as the early 90s by his father before him. His wines can be very classical and elegant in their expression; clean, bright and with incredible purity, and are a great introduction wine for sceptics of low-intervention wine to try!
Best served with a light chill alongside some cured meat and a hunk of sourdough!
