LA LUMIÈRE 2021

A light and juicy red, in a style that the producer, Valentin Létoquart, refers to as 'glouglou plus' - there is a wealth of explosive, pure fruit character, but no loss in the structure in the wine. Black cherry notes are balanced with spice, and with the lighter extraction given to the grapes, the wine offers a playful charm that's best shared with friends and will make you want to take sip after sip.

In the cellar there is a lightness of touch; fermentations are carried out in concrete and steel vessels using native yeasts, sometimes in whole bunches with carbonic maceration, or by de-stemming and gently macerating the grapes. Both are methods that avoid a heavy extraction. They are generally bottled the spring following harvest and with no additions whatsoever.

This wine can be served at room temperature or chilled.

A small vineyard, Val de Combrès is made up of just under 8 hectares around the villages of Oppède and Ménerbes at the southeasterly stretch of the Rhône valley, in Luberon. For the most part, their wines stand apart from the traditional style of the AOC here, helped in part by the elevation of the vines. Biodynamic and organic techniques are the name of the game here, with plowing carried out by horse!
